Innovation and Collaboration in Support of the Canadian Aerospace Industry

in News

The City of Ottawa welcomed more than 1,100 exhibitors and participants at the 2016 Canadian Aerospace Summit on November 15-16. Industry leaders, decision-makers from the federal government and organizations from across the country came together these two days to take part in conferences, networking and exhibitions.

At the event, Denis Faubert, President & CEO of the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada (CARIC), participated in a panel discussion on innovation and explained CARIC’s workflow process and accomplishments. The panel also included Mike Greenly from L-3 Wescam, Mike McCarthy from MHI Canada, Lee Obst from Rockwell Collins Canada and Marc St-Hilaire from CAE.

The Canadian Aerospace Summit ended with an address by the Honorable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. Minister Bains held up CARIC as a real example of both innovation and collaboration. He pointed out the solid success of the Consortium, which managed, over time, to launch more than 30 collaborative research projects. The Minister presented aerospace as a key research driver that contributes significantly to the economy. He also unveiled plans to reinstate the Space Advisory Committee to develop a space strategy by June 2017.

The next Canadian Aerospace Summit is scheduled to take place in Ottawa on November 7 and 8, 2017.
