Chris is responsible for clean technology policy and program coordination across the ISED portfolio. This includes oversight of Sustainable Technology Development Canada (SDTC), federal-provincial-territorial collaboration, and international engagement including the Canada-China Working Group on Clean Technology Innovation, It also includes implementation of the Clean Growth Hub, which was announced in Budget 2017 and will be responsible for coordinating over $2 billion in federal support for clean technology development and commercialization over the next four years. He was a member of, and Secretariat lead for, the federal-provincial-territorial Working Group on Clean Technology, Innovation and Jobs in 2016, whose work formed the basis for the clean technology component of the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change agreed to by First Ministers in December 2016.
Prior to his current role, Chris led wireless telecommunications policy at ISED, and previously the Director General of Strategic Policy. He previously held roles at Natural Resources Canada, including managing renewable fuels policy and programs. Prior to his time with the Government of Canada, Chris held management positions in technology companies and consulted at Bain & Company. Chris holds an MBA from INSEAD and an engineering degree from Queen’s University.
